Wellesley, MA — Today’s project involves the restoration of a crema marfil floor with serpentine green marble inserts. This type of installation can be particularly challenging because we are dealing with two stones at opposite ends of the hardness spectrum.
The crema (beige in color) is considered a softer stone. The Serpentine (green in color) is considered one of the hardest and most dense of all the marble surfaces. The problem that is created is that when we finish restoring the floor, we want the shine on both stones to match 100%. If the two don’t match, then the floor will appear uneven. No one will be able to tell if the green was under polished or if the crema was overpolished. All they can see is that they do not match thats where the experience comes in.”
