One of the things we take the most pride in here at Boston Stone Restoration is trying to find solutions to solve our clients’ problems. We had a customer who owns a commercial building with a Rosa Verona marble lobby floor that was deteriorating. It was actually crumbling and becoming pitted and it looked awful. This was a result of improper cleaning and care.
The owner was preparing to replace the floor at a large expense and inconvenience. Fortunately they reached out to BSR and Paul started to do research on how to repair and save this floor. He decided to do a test to see if he could fill the holes with marble dust and then pour on an epoxy to seal them in. The idea was based upon how terrazzo floors are installed with epoxy and marble chips. His idea required a few tests until he got the process and the color correct, but the end result is a beautifully polished floor with a smooth finish that should stand up to traffic for several years to come.
Here is a video of the process in action along with some before and after shots.
