We are excited to announce that we have finished our three-week-long restoration project at Tourtellotte Memorial High School. Located in Thompson, CT, this historic building has lots of terrazzo that was in serious need of some TLC. The High School was built with the gracious donation by Jacob and Harriett Tourtelotte in memory of their two young daughters who both died in childhood. The cornerstone of the building was laid in 1909 and the first class of graduating in 1911. The building is now home to the district’s central office.
The scope of our work included restoring two large stair towers with terrazzo stairs, landings, and the walls. In addition, there is a large foyer floor that was dull and dingy from years of traffic and wax buildup. We were excited to have the opportunity to apply Microguard coating to keep the surfaces looking great and easy to maintain for years to come. MicroGuard’s clear finish bonds with the floor surface for unmatched strength, durability and wear resistance. The tile itself becomes a “High Traction” surface reducing slip and fall liability and retains a beautiful, high-gloss long after curing.
