Imagine you go on vacation and you hire a cleaning service to take care of your home while you are gone. You have a beautiful white marble island and black absolute granite counters in your kitchen that you carefully chose to make your kitchen as perfect as it could be and when you return they are completely streaked and cloudy from the cleaning company’s use of the incorrect cleaning products for your stone.

What would you do in this situation? While most people would say “panic and call the company in a fit of rage”, we’re here to let you know that doesn’t need to happen! Instead of panicking, call Boston Stone Restoration and see how our team can fix the damage!

Acid etching is the most common problem we see on marble counter tops. It usually comes from a cocktail dripping down a glass, lemon juice splattering or another acidic ingredient such as dressing or vinegar being used while cooking, and it’s usually a simple fix! Since acid etching is a physical damage to the stone, stone care professionals will hone or polish the affected area using various diamond-grit polishing pads and then reseal the surface to keep it protected from further damage.

In this particular instance, the entire counter was cleaned with an acidic cleaner and fortunately, the fix is easy. Our crew came in and removed all the damage from the black counters, and then applied MORE Anti-Etch coating to the island to keep it etch and stain free for 10-years!  MORE™ AntiEtch™ is an innovative solution that forms a durable, ultra-low visibility, super-thin, coating that prevents the toughest stains and caustic solutions from coming in contact with your marble countertop surface giving you peace of mind.

If you have water marks, streaks or other acid etch marks on your counters, call the professionals at BSR today and see how we can help!
