Exactly one week before the 4th of July weekend, we got a call from a contractor on Nantucket who had an emergency. He was about to turn over a new home for the 4th but there had been a fire in the house that caused extensive smoke damage to the all white marble in the bathrooms and kitchen. The contractor was anxious, how quickly could we get on island to access the damage? And did we think we could remove all the soot? Fortunately, Paul went to Nantucket first thing Monday, with a several ideas on what to try, and after a few tests determined that he could remove all the damage safely. But this was a time sensitive job, and the holiday was fast approaching.
One of the things we pride ourselves on at Boston Stone Restoration is our customer service. We do whatever it takes to get the job done for our customers. In this case it meant asking our employees to give up their Friday holiday and work long hours to travel to and from the Nantucket. With owner, Paul Bunis, overseeing a crew, we were able to successfully remove all the soot and fire damage and we finished by end of day on Friday July 3rd!
By using a combination of melamine sponges and an alkaline cleaner, and a poultice specially formulating for soot and smoke damage, the stone was restore to it’s pristine white color. Thank you to our wonderful technicians for helping to make this a success and ensuring another happy customer.
