Marble and Inlays Shine at the Boston Public Library

We at BSR are lucky. We get lots of opportunities to experience historic buildings in and around Boston when no one else does, often at night when Boston’s historic buildings can take on a completely different air. Walking the hallowed halls of the Boston Public Library at night can be an eerie feeling, and being surrounded by thousands of books, manuscripts and sculptures can be haunting!  When you enter the main lobby you are immediately overcome with the vastness of the space.  Vaulted ceilings, and a magnificent marble floor and staircase are what greet you. Inlaid into the floor is the official seal of the library and names of famous Bostonians, such as Everett, Quincy and Winthrop. I often wonder if their ghosts and the ghosts of the authors are watching me while I work!

I love to work at the library, not only because the place is beautiful and full of lots of marble, but also because I feel like I am thrown back in time to an age where this type of architecture was the norm and people lived in a grand style.
