Some of the most beautiful structures in the world are houses of worship adorned with marble, like the Lotus Temple in New Delhi, India, the Duomo di Milano in Milan, Italy and of course St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. We are often brought in to churches, temples and spiritual sanctuaries to restore and polish stonework. One recent project was at Mount Alvernia High School in Newton, Massachusetts.
Mount Alvernia High School opened in 1927 as a day school for boys and girls, and in 1935 it became a boarding high school for girls only.
Started and run by the Franciscan Sisters it is a place
that “teaches girls to have faith in themselves.”
Part of that faith is nurtured by regular prayer in a beautiful chapel lined in marble. Boston Stone Restoration was recently given the task of restoring the marble to its previous grandeur.
