Back Bay, Boston, MA — Restoring a century old marble tile floor can be daunting for some folks, but not for Boston Stone Restoration. Recently we were contacted by an owner of a beautiful old brownstone in Boston’s Back Bay.
The marble floor in the entry foyer was badly damaged from years of traffic. Many of the tiles were cracked because the sub floor had crumbled and needed to be restored before new replacement tiles could be installed. To make this more challenging, the old tiles were one inch thick while today’s standard replacement tiles are about a half inch thick.
Our technicians worked carefully to remove the broken tile, then rebuilt the subfloor and reinstalled the marble tiles….23 of them. After replacing and regrouting the floor we went to work to bring back the original shine and luster of the stone. The client was thrilled with the results.
