Imagine you are a contractor called in to work at a prestigious university. You are renovating an older building with a terrazzo floor. The job requires you to remove part of a wall and now you have a big hole in the floor. You can’t just fill it in with tile, because it won’ match. Terrazzo, a glossy, multicolored combination of pigmented cement and decorative chips of marble and stone, which originated in Italy to use up scrap marble.
