As New England is busy cleaning up from one of the biggest blizzards on record, it is important to note that all the salt and sand that is on the sidewalks & roadways can do a number on your marble and natural stone.
Obviously, if you can avoid tracking grit into your home, that is the preference, but if you do get some salt or sand on your marble or natural stone floors, resist the urge to mop! Remember, sand and grit are the enemy of natural stone because of the scratches it creates. Vacuuming up the grit before it can scratch and mar your floors is key. After the surface is free of grit, you can damp mop with a quality neutral cleaner.
