Massachusetts ~ If you are a general contractor and hire subcontractors to help with your renovation contracts, sometimes things can just go really wrong. Recently we were engaged to help fix problems that occurred due to improper tile installation.
A problem that sometimes occurs is called lippage. This is when the tiles don’t lie flat or flush. This uneven surface is not only uncomfortable to walk on but it is aesthetically displeasing. It is usually the result of an inexperienced installer or an uneven subfloor. The only way to correct lippage is to grind down the uneven tiles until they are flush and uniform.

We just did two projects , one was a shower in Andover , MA where the walls were uneven. This was even more challenging because it is more difficult to work on vertical surfaces. The other project was on Nantucket where we did two bathroom floors that were uneven. In both cases we were able to resolve the problem. Although it is frustrating when you have an uneven installation it is a problem than can be corrected by a professional.
