When cracks occur, there can be a wide variety of causes. If you have a marble floor, a crack can result from something being dropped on the soft stone. It could also be caused from a structural shift in the floor that can sometimes cause several tiles to crack, or it could be simply because a vein, which is a naturally weak part of the stone, gives way.
Depending on the location, cause and severity of the crack, the course of action will vary. Sometimes a professional can use various epoxies or resins with color matching techniques, to fix the crack or cracks. Often times, these repairs are stronger than the original stone. Other times, due to the severity of the crack or the location, the entire tile may need to be removed and replaced. The solutions to any of these problems can be determined by on on-site inspection.
