Greetings from Rome! We have just finished a week of wandering the streets, monuments and cathedrals of Rome and were overwhelmed by the beautiful marble and limestone at every turn.
Floors, walls, ceilings, statues, facades, fountains and even curbstones are made up of the stone we lovingly work on back in the States. Stairs and floors here, are worn smooth from thousands of years of foot traffic and they still look beautiful!
From the Vatican to St. Peter’s to the Forum, we have had a chance to really experience the way that marble and stone was used to build everything here throughout the ages. Next stop we are off to Carrara, the birthplace of the marble to see how they quarry it and bring it out of the mountains.
We are excited to return to Boston with a fresh perspective on natural stone applications and maintenance, and maybe just a few extra pounds (wow, the food)!
