Fabulous Maine vacation home with beautiful but etched slate counters gets a makeover!
We have been on the road again at Boston Stone Restoration! This summer we have been on the Cape and Islands a lot, but last week we headed north to Sweden, Maine. We service all of New England! Our client has a beautiful ski/vacation home there, and he recently installed over a 100 square feet of Sheldon Slate counter tops in the kitchen, bar area and mudroom.

Sheldon Slate is a very highly metamorphosed slate. This means it was formed by the metamorphosis of mudstone / shale, or sometimes basalt, under relatively low pressure and temperature conditions. It is found in the New England region of the US is noted for its high quality. It comes in a variety of colors, but our client chose a dark, gray almost black stone. Although incredibly durable, it will etch if not treated. Since our client entertains large groups regularly, these counters were a perfect candidate for MORE anti-etch coating.
Our crew worked diligently for two days to remove all the acid etching and water marks on the counters before applying the MORE coating. The results are stunning. Now our client can continue to host guest and not worry about damage to his counters. If you have a vacation home that would benefit from this service reach out to us at 781-793-0700 for a complimentary estimate.
